Chapelle Saint-Jacques
Dating from the 17th century, this chapel remains one of the most characteristic monuments of the Dutch Baroque style.
Formerly a Jesuit college, the chapel has experienced a number of vicissitudes. The faith and perseverance of the town's inhabitants saved it from destruction. Outside, visitors can admire the splendid 3-storey white stone façade.
Inside, there are 14 recently restored 18th-century gilded wood panels from the Collegiate Church of St Peter.
The 4 Baroque statues: Saint-Jacques, Saint-Ignace, Saint-Pierre and Saint-Jean are also part of the décor, as are the stained glass windows by Jean Mauret.
The Gloire, located at the back of the apse, is the work of Magnard. It replaces the chapel's former altarpiece.
Almost none of the old furniture remains. The last alterations, carried out in 1853 by the priests of Saint-Bertin, concerned the installation of the altar, choir stalls, chandeliers and pulpit. However, in 1942, the church was listed as a Historic Monument.
